Humans are creatures of habit. We have over 50,000 thoughts in a day, and 98% of these thoughts are the same day after day. We are also on autopilot nearly 47% of the time. (That is a scary statistic!)
Through evolution we have developed cognitive biases or put another way, short cuts, to conserve our energy and these cognitive biases impact the way we think and behave without us realizing it.
Not to mention we have been trained to conform. Having been trained to follow the rules and not question the procedures already established combined with our innate habitual nature, our innovativeness and creativity can be extinguished.
Luckily, we can re-train our brains to unlock agility.

- Idea Generation – is developing many possible ideas or solutions to problems.
- Focus – is concentrating on what’s important.
- Collaboration – is interacting effectively with others to develop ideas.
- Self-Belief – is the belief in oneself to be innovative.
Energize – is the ability to influence others, building coalitions, and mobilizing support for new ideas.
Apply – is showing boldness and risking mistakes; putting an idea into a practical plan, testing and modifying the plan, and making new ideas a regular part of the work process.
